use Time Capsule with existing network.  N...

I am using Time Machine with an external hard drive.  (iMac El Capitan).  I wish to add a Time Capsule.  I do not want to use the Time Capsule as a router.

I am having difficulties with the setup and am seeking some clear instructions.  I think I need to to first get the Time Capsule working directly with my iMac, using LAN/ethernet  for the initial setup.  Then I think I need to connect the Time Capsule WAN port to my current router.  The WiFi is 'OFF' in the TC and the TC is set to 'BRIDGE' mode but the setup does not seem correct.  Airport Utility has a Red '1' next to the icon. Should the TC appear as a network device on FINDER?

The instructions in the TC user guide are confusing.  For instance, for the initial setup of the TC to the iMac, is the correct connection TC LAN to iMac ethernet port?

I am planning to start over from scratch.  I will attempt to remove the TC disk from my Time Machine backup disc selection on the iMac.  I will disconnect the TC from my router and reset the TC.  At that point I would like to start again at the beginning.  I think if I can set up the TC properly as a network device then I should be able to use it to back up more than one device over my existing WiFi network.

Thanks for reading my lengthy explanation.

My question(s):   1. Can someone point me to some written documentation of the steps that are required?  In summary: I want to use TC with my existing network as a wireless backup disc with Time Machine.
