I have a 13'' 2014-mid MacBook Pro Retina and it's connected to a LG 27UD68M 4K monitor through an Amazon Basics Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. However, every time I close my laptop lid and try to change it to the 'closed-clamshell' mode, the monitor loses its signal and turn off. It looks like the laptop can't detect the external monitor through the Mini DisplayPort interface, since it'll enter the mode perfectly if I use HDMI cable, but I still want to use the Mini DisplayPort since the HDMI can only drive the monitor at 30Hz. Any help?
