How do I unlock my ITunes

The other day, I had an iTunes update.  After I installed the update, I tried to open iTunes and I got an error: "The iTunes library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.

Now every time I try to get into iTunes, I get the same error message.

My iTunes application and music should all be on my MacBook Pro....I did not move it to another external hard drive.

Any thoughts on how I can get back into iTunes??
