UI lag on 2017 MBP base model

Hello,

Recently I bought a 2017 Macbook Pro base model and I noticed that the UI transitions (switching between desktops, getting in and out of Mission Control) are lagging. This happens even when the laptop isn't doing anything "heavy". I searched online for a solution, but I found nothing useful.

I also noticed a significant lag when exiting a fullscreen video in Safari. As I press the Esc button while in fullscreen I see desktops switching from one to another while the video screen remains in place, after which Safari windows appears.

My MBP is currently running macOS Sierra v10.12.6.

Any help would be more than appreciated. Thanks!
