Weird screen colors after wakeing up my MBP

Hi,

i recently bought a (new) early 2015 13" retina MBP.

When waking it up from sleep, it often (not always) shows weird screen colors like this: https://imgur.com/gallery/X3TAS

I did a bit of googling and found other users that are having exactly the same issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/osx/comments/54ueud/weird_screen_colors_after_wake_up/

Sadly there is no reason for this or even solution mentioned. (Resetting NVRAM does not help.)

My late 2013 13" retina MBP does not do this, so I am worried that it's some kind of faulty hardware (graphics card RAM for example). Anyone here having the same issue or can support any idea what this might be or how I could fix it?

Greets & thanks,

Hauser

When ignoring the issue, it will disappear after 5-6 seconds...

I have same problem with brand new macbook pro

I have exactly the same problem with my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015).

My screen was changed because of another issue. And even with the new screen it occurs once every few days. It is real annoying! Sometimes I can't use it for a few seconds, sometimes it disappears when touching a key. Worst that happened so far was an unusable mess of colors for round about a minute.

What's really strange is the fact that I'm not able to take a screenshot. Every time when I take one, the strange colors disappear. So I think and hope that it is a software-issue.

I found this listing via the already mentioned reddit-link.

Thanks for opening it. Maybe Apple will fix it if more people reply.

I have the exact same problem, and I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015).

Sometimes the issue occurs even after I logged in, and I also can't take a screenshot of it, but I have several photos of it in my phone.

What might be the problem?

I have the exact same problem. This ONLY started happening after I upgraded to Sierra. I did not have this problem with El Capitan or previous releases.

Currently running:

Sierra 10.12.3

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

2.9 GHz Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM

Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

My wife's MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) also has the same issue after upgrading to Sierra, but it seems less frequent:

2.4GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM

Intel Iris 1536MB

I feel like this is a driver issue within the new release, but it has yet to be fixed in any 10.12.x releases so far.

I also have this issue on a 2015 13" Retina Macbook pro. Occurs randomly when waking the machine usually once the machine is locked and on the log in screen. its goes away within a few seconds. wondering if there is a resolution for this yet??

I'd like to add that my MacBook Pro (early 2015) also has this same issue, I recently bought it preloaded with OS Sierra.

The issue only occured for me when I woke the display from sleep. It has happened twice in a week and has lasted around 5/10 seconds each time.

From the very limited information that's out there and from what people are saying, it appears to be a software issue rather than a hardware issue. Most people's machines were fine prior to the update to Sierra.

Apple please resolve this issue!!!!!

Hello,

Macbook Pro Early 2015 - 8gb RAM, i5 dual, 13", 128gb SSD - Standard.

Just a little after updating to Sierra, this screen bug problem started happening, and it's getting worse and worse in here, at the beginning the bug happened for about 1.5 second, now it stays for a bunch of more time, like 7 seconds.

The bug does not happen to me when I wake up the macbook after a short time with the screen closed, it normally happens when I stay the macbook for at least one hour without waking it up.

It's really clear that the problem is software as you can see people that are talking about having their screen changed at the store for another reason and even then, the screen color bug had persisted.

[To Apple]

It may have some kind of software incompatibility with the improvements made for the new MacBooks at Sierra OSX (as I know that, the new macbooks has a screen quality improvement), so just take a look at your code control and see if there is something that can be related to this, probably at the place that may save the screen situation into SSD for fast boot or something related with.

All the best,
João

Also have this problem. Same Model. I called into Applecare and they told me it was not a known issue. They advised if it happened again to take a picture but It is unpredictable so I havent been able to do so.

I have had the same issue for months. I initially had my screen replaced due to the delaminating anti reflection. After it was replaced I began to have the issue. I rang apple care prior to my 12 months warranty running out and notified them of the issue to have it on record, which they wanted me to visit an apple store for testing. I did not have the time to lose taking it to a store to try and replicate the problem. I have since taken videos of the issue occurring and photos. It is frustrating but I have learned to work through the issue at the moment. I would love a fix sometime soon though. The below pictures show a before (when the MacBook is opened from sleep) and after which can take between 5 seconds to a 2 minutes to resolve.

The same problem is still happening to my MacBook Pro 2015 since I have upgraded to MacOS Sierra many months ago.

I got the same issue and it's annoying!!! Sometimes it goes away after waiting for 10sec and sometimes it stays, so in order to get rid of it you have to reboot or change screen resolution back and forth.

I'm surprised that apple still didn't reply with suggestion or solution!!!
