Move playlists from iTunes to EHD then delete t...

Attempts to select a folder of playlists from iTunes then copy to external drive so that I can then remove songs from  my iTunes library have failed.

I have been ripping my son's CDs onto my iMac then synching them to his iPod Touch. I have named these as individual playlists as date ripped.  After 15+ such playlists, I consolidated the playlists into a folder in iTunes with as "His Name/date".

Now I want to move this folder containing the playlists of 900+ songs to a folder on my EHD and then deleted these 900+ songs from my iTunes Library.

How can I do this?
