Time Machine Recovery Backup Password

I have a Macbook Pro 2012 (non-Retina). I upgraded to an SSD about 6 weeks ago. No problems until today. Today it gave me the folder with question mark when I restarted it. I hit Command R when I restarted again to bring up the Disk utility. In the DU, it tells me that the SSD cannot be verified or repaired and must be restored. My SSD is gray'd out in the disk utility.
 

No problem...I use Time Machine. Or so I thought. I went to OS Utilities, selected Restore from Time Machine Backup, click on my Time Machine and "Connect." Then the problem manifests itself.
 

No idea what the password is. I set that up years ago...how do I fix this so I can get to my backup and affect this restore? Is it an Apple issue or is it a Western Digital issue (the HDD I use for backup)?
