iTunes freezes when connecting

Hello.

I've got a problem with my iTunes and iPhone. iTunes works fine, but when I plug in my iPhone, iTunes freezes and won't respond, or responds after about 10 minutes after each click, but it won't sync anything. When I unplug the phone, iTunes works as normal again.

I tried to connect my old iPhone 5 to see what iTunes would do, and it does respond when the iPhone 5 is connected.

The iPhone I'm using is an iPhone 7, running on iOS 11.0.1. iTunes is currently running on .. and my laptop runs on Windows 7.

I've already tried..

- reinstalling iTunes

- reset settings on iPhone 7 (but keeping documents)

- turning on the prevent syncing in preferences

- using another user account

Please note that I've had this problem since I got my iPhone 7 in December 2016. I have never been able to use iTunes with this iPhone, but I would like to sync my music using iTunes now.
