Losing WiFi conection/ WiFi very slow

Hey community,

I noticed on my MacBook Pro (mid 2014) that the WiFi connection is very slow and unstable when iTunes, Dropbox or other applications are downloading in the background. I ran into it while setting up my MacBook and my boss his MacBook (same model like I have) with VPN and TeamViewer.

Symptoms:

I turn on the MacBook, start surfing with Safari, update my Outlook email or connect the VPN. Everythign fine. So good so far and everything seems to be ok. But as soon as applications are downloading something in the background the VPN disconnects regularly for a few seconds, surfing is very slow and TeamViewer loses the connection regularly.

I don't have the issues when hard wired and I don't have them with my MS Surface or Windows laptop. Obviously an issue with the WiFi adapter. Is this a common, known issue since I experience it on two MacBooks already? Any known solutions and/ or workarounds?
