Music control via watch not working after update

After updating iPhone 7plus to 11.0.1 and Apple watch2 to V4 the ability to use the watch as a remote for the playlist on iPhone and selecting songs is missing.

I start the music app on the watch and it only displays songs on the watch with no way to select songs on the iPhone.

I have noticed that when I press play on the iPhone the song appears on the watch with play controls.

But no ability to select a playlist.

Have tried the following:

Restarted both iPhone and Watch many times.

Has this feature been removed? If so is there an app that can do this for me?

Thank you for your assistance in advance on this matter. (I teach dance and controlling playlist is a must)
