Watch sometimes does not charge during nightsta...

Sometimes I will wake up in the morning to find my watch has not charged.

It will be in nightstand mode.

The alarm also will not ring out like it is in nightstand mode.  It will play the alarm as if the watch was on my wrist, with the haptics and the single pulse tone.

I've checked the connections, and I've paired the watch numerous times.

When I put the watch on the charger at night I confirm it does go into nightstand mode.

But when I wake up, it is still in nightstand mode, but it hasn't charged (~40% charge remaining) and it seems like it thinks it's on my wrist.

Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Hi

The following steps may help:

  • Check that Wrist Detection is enabled:
    • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > enable Wrist Detection.

  • When charging your Apple Watch in Nightstand Mode, check that you are placing it on a surface that is still and free from vibrations.
    • Whilst in Nightstand Mode, your Apple Watch is especially sensitive to vibrations. This feature enables the screen to be woken by, for example, nudging the bedside table on which it is standing, but constant vibrations can prevent the display from sleeping.
    • Use Nightstand mode on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

  • Be sure to set your alarm via the Alarm app on your Apple Watch, not via the Clock app on your iPhone.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:
