iTunes ruined after iTunes Match and Apple Musi...

Hi There,

iTunes Match and Apple Music destroyed my organised library with duplicates and incomplete albums. Plus I couldn't put my own music (I make music) onto my phone without first signing out of Apple Music - every time.

I've unsubscribed from both but am having trouble cleaning up the devastation.

1. Removing all trace of Apple music

I found the preference to turn off Apple Music on my phone but tracks within playlists and playlists still show up - how do I get rid of Apple Music for good?

2. Cleaning up playlists

I now have duplicates and half duplicates of personal playlists (in addition to Apple Music playlists) scattered between my iPhone, iPad and Mac. I tried deleting them on my phone but there's no right swipe, there's no option within playlist 'Edit' menu, and no 'Delete Playlist' option from the dots menu. There's 'Delete from library' but because everything music-related in the Apple universe has become unintuitive, I fear it will delete the playlist tracks from the library. Can you delete playlists from your device?

I then tried deleting playlists with my phone connected to iTunes from my Mac. But what showed as empty playlists were not empty when I checked my phone - now I've deleted playlists that weren't empty. How do you see playlist tracks for devices mounted in iTunes? The phone is synced to iTunes daily.

3. How to use Apple services successfully

I like the idea of these services, but how do you set them up so they don't utterly destroy your library, your love of music and consequently your soul?

I'm comfortable with the command line if that's what's involved. I'm running:

- Macbook Pro OSX 10.11.6

- iTunes 12.7.0.166

- iPad and iPhone running iOS 10.3.3

Any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Ben
