Moving my iTunes from PC to new PC

Quite some time ago I purchased a new PC (over 3 years ago). I purchased a external hard drive and copied all my song directly from my Playlist to my external hard drive. On my new computer I simply dragged the content from the external hard drive to my playlist. I feel as though I made a big mistake doing it that way....

Now all of the songs that were brought over from the external hard drive have the file location being the (in this case F: drive) and if I unplug my external hard drive, I get an error code in iTunes about file location not being found and the song is removed from the playlist. Due to this, I have had my external hard drive permanently plugged in (computer is a laptop to make it that much more fun). Obviously since then I have purchased new songs/movies/apps/ring tones/books. These have all been saving to my C: drive no problem.

Here's the question. Is there a way after all these years to have the files permanently on the C: drive? I can't seem to get them to have the file location to move to C: drive, always F: drive. I wanted to do another back up as I am changing operating systems in a few days and don't want to lose anything. Any thoughts on how to do this? Sorry don't know a huge amount about computers.

Thanks
