HELP! I am in the middle of projects and my dea...

I recently got a new iMac 2017 after MANY years of holding out. I was elated that both my old version of Logic (don't laugh) Express AND my interface still worked. Elation turned to horror this morning when it magically stopped working. I had changed absolutely nothing but suddenly Logic could not find/would not recognize my audio interface. I managed to get it to recognize the interface, but then it would not pick up any audio signal from guitars or microphones (even with the standard inputs selected, etc). I can hear the instrument/vox (in mono) in my headphones, which are plugged into the interface (NOT the iMac), but no signal is getting through to the record-enabled tracks in Logic. When I record a software instrument, it captures it but I can't hear it and it doesn't label the tracks the way it used to -- just says "default.def". Honestly, nothing is right. I don't get why it has stopped working and would be grateful for any tips to get me up and running again. Many thanks for reading if you made it this far. Here are my system details:

Computer: iMac Retina 4K 21.5 inch, 2017 + OS Sierra 10.12.4

Logic Express 9.1.8

Audio interface: m-audio fasttrack USB
