MacBook pro 2017 and external display problems

I am not able to get an EIZO CS2730 27" monitor to work with a macbook pro 2017.

I tried various cables and adaptors. Some of the cables (USB-C to Displayport) and the adaptor (USB-C to Displayport) would work but the picture is smaller than the display. If I go to the about box inside macOS the display is recognised as the correct model and size.

I also tried the Apple Multi AV adaptor but it doesn't work with anything other than a TV. All of the 5 displays I tried are overscanned so this adaptor is only good for TVs.

The same cables and adaptors will work on other monitors, so I am curious as to what may be causing the issue.

What I found out to solve my problem is:

Resetting the NVRAM without the external display being connected to the computer. After the computer booted I restarted it once more and then plugged the cable of the external monitor. Resetting the NVRAM with the monitor attached did nothing.
