Is sierra compatible with quicken 2007?

Is sierra compatible with quicken 2007?

I Am now using quicken 2007, 16.2.4 (build 25.886.100) on my new MacBook Pro, 15" touchbar, with Sierra v 10.12.2.

WOrks just just like it used to on my old Mac.

No. You will need to upgrade Quicken to its latest version.

I think you have that backward... the question is, is Quicken 2007 compatible with Sierra...

Roaringapps.com is a good resource for checking compatibility of existing applications with new versions of both OS X and Windows.

They currently report no available data regarding this, and conflicting reports on the previous version of OS X.

Your best resource for information regarding compatibility of Quicken 2007 is going to be intuit, since it's their software. Honestly, I seriously doubt if it's going to work. They don't exactly have a stellar reputation of keeping their software updated, especially software that's almost 10 years old.

ALERT FOR QUICKBOOKS AND QUICKEN USERS!!!

Updating to the latest Mac OS 10.12 Sierra breaks this software! Apple released this update on September 20. I installed it yesterday on our nonprofit's computer. Now Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2015 will no longer function. This morning (one week late) Intuit sent out an email announcing that all their customers have to update to Quickbooks for Mac 2016 to use Sierra. I'm sure that must have come as a complete surprise to the executives at Intuit - Apple upgrading their OS??? Who knew that would happen??? Or d'ya think they waited to announce this on purpose?

Calling their customer service line, after 20 minutes on hold I reached a snarky rep who told me the only thing to do was to pay them - the company takes no responsibility for this whatsoever, it just wants your money. I hope some professor will note this for the Business Ethics class.

Looking online, there is no workable update for Quicken, either. I clearly cannot update my personal Mac to Sierra until I find a substitute for 31 years of Quicken personal finance data. I am still using the last functional version of Quicken for Mac, from 2007 - all subsequent versions released by Intuit for the last 10 years were crippled, badly rewritten, and unusable since they lack important basic features in the 2007 version which Sierra also breaks. At least I found that out before updating my personal Mac.

Last May Intuit spun off Quicken to a private equity group so we may be waiting years for a useable update, who knows? For now..."it's dead, Jim"...

The nonprofit is now forced to update Quickbooks, but I am going to do my best to make sure this is the last time Intuit gets any money from me or my clients. This is not an easy decision to make - did I mention the 31 years of data? Visualize the two words I'm saying to Intuit out loud right now...the first one is four letters beginning with F.

Ok, Internet - what competing small business/personal finance software packages do you like??? I know much of this is heading the Cloud, yet I am old school enough to be nervous about handing accounting records off to someplace nebulous. So I at least will need a robust way to back up this information locally, or really, I prefer a desktop version for this. Thoughts???

I tried out my Quicken 2007 for Mac yesterday, and it seems to be working just fine.

To clarify, you updated your OS to the new Sierra OS and Quicken 2007 worked?

Yes, I can confirm that Quicken 2007 and Quicken 2016 both work fine with macOS Sierra. I have both running on my computer with no issues.

I can confirm Quicken 2007 works fine with Sierra.  I purchased Quicken 2016 55 or 6 months ago and stopped using it and saved in case of an emergency.  I still rely on the 2007 because it gives me all I need in a simpler format!  That's true even with Sierra!!  Good luck!

I stand corrected, about Quicken 2007! For obvious reasons I based my comment on information above without checking this out myself and risking access to my data. Big oops, sorry.

I can, however, verify that Quickbooks 2015 for Mac will not work with Sierra.

It’s obvious you have some sort of vendetta going against Quicken. Why should anyone take your word for anything?

I'm just a normal guy whose software didn't work. I do have personal vendettas about other things (we can always start a political thread somewhere else) but this isn't one of them. If I was wrong about Quicken, I will certainly apologize, as in fact I just did. If you think I'm wrong about Quickbooks, try it yourself and report back. Just back up your critical data first. Or hey, live dangerously!

Intuit has today released a new version of QuickBooks 2015 that is compatible with macOS Sierra.

So again you were wrong when you reported that Intuit told you that all users MUST upgrade to QuickBooks 2016. Your ranting hatred of Intuit is blinding you.

When major macOS upgrades come out there’s always a period of time where glitches and problems arise. That’s why upgrading immediately is not always the best idea, especially when you depend on mission critical software like QuickBooks. It’s also prudent to do some research about those mission critical apps before upgrading. You apparently just went ahead and upgraded assuming everything would be fine. It rarely is.

May all beings be happy. You included.

You are both right. I have two mac's, a late 2015 iMac and a mid-2012 MacBook air. When I went from el capitan to sierra on the iMac, quicken 2007 survived and functions fine. When I did the same thing a week later on the MacBook,

Q2007 did not survive. The icon is still in the dock, but the files won't open and when I try to restore them from time machine nothing happens. Quicken files don't sync through the cloud like modern programs like Pages, so the data I entered into the MacBook since I bought the iMac (about 6 months of data) is lost. I might buy Q2015 for mac for the MacBook but I hate to spend $75 only to find it won't recover the files. I don't think I could have asked anyone at Q or Apple in advance who could have warned me about what happened. Unlike other apps and programs, with Q and mac I always feel like I'm rolling the dice. I've looked at replacing Q several times but nothing works as well for me. I mostly do budgeting and income/expense detail management and reports, and I rely on the "split" function to allocate credit card charges. I welcome any advice on how to recover my Q files on the MacBook or on a suitable replacement for Q on the mac.

I just updated yesterday and logged on today and my quicken is greyed out with a circle around it and a slash through it!!!  Where is my quicken data?!?!?!?!?!
