Using another MacBook pro to install OS on my h...

So avoiding the long story, this is basically my only option right now.

I'm sure of the process with Windows machines but not to such with apple laptops.

I want to take my hard drive out of my MBP 2011 and install in into somebody else's MBP machine and use my USB to with OS X installed on it to install it to my hard drive. Then simply take it out, place their hard drive back in their MBP and put my HDD back into mine. Does it work as simple as this? thought I better double check before carrying this out. I'm pretty sure my HDD is still formatted correctly but incase it isn't, what's the process for reformatting this?
