Where has my itunes music gone to?

For a change I decided to try to play some music on my iMac 10.6.8.  I have iTunes version 11.3.1  It is sometime since I tried this, maybe two years, But nothing is playing.

No sound although sound is nearly on Max. The names of the tunes come up in the panel.  The slider indicates it is playing but no sound.

No music, neither play lists, artists, genre, Zilch.  And some of this I have bought from iTunes store.

But everything plays on my newish) Macbook Pro.    And I am not on iCloud.

Any ideas, anyone.
