My solution for Magic Mouse problems with Excel...

I recently bought a new iMac with the Mountain Lion operating system and a Magic Mouse. I use Excel Spreadsheets extensively and found that moving from the keyboard to the mouse caused unwanted cell movements in the spreadsheet. The slightest touch caused a problem. If the up/down and left/right arrow puttons had not been removed from the new scroll bars, I would ahve simply thrown the MagicMouse away and gone back to an old point and click mouse.

My productivity suffered until I hit on a solution. I glued a layer of aluminum foil over the lower 2/3 of the Magic Mouse surface. That blocked the unwanted signals when I first placed my hand on the mouse. It left the upper 1/3 for touch sensitive up/down left/right commands. It might work for you as well.

I really liked this idea and it worked! I wasn't crazy about the look and feel of foil. I found the scotch tape placed in the same location cleans up the mouse 'jitters' with a bit nicer look.
