How do I get my iWatch out of Demo Mode?

I have tried everything to get it out of demo mode. using the screen and the button, brings up the menu. But when I try to turn off the move it doesn't work. Can anyone help? I have an expensive wrist decoration right now.

Hi

Contact Apple Support or make a Genius Bar reservation for assistance:

Did you purchase this watch directly from Apple ??

how to take apple watch out of demo mode

No, I am afraid I did not.

If you have a watch in "demo mode", take it back to where you go it. Those have special firmware on them for demonstration purposes and are NOT intended to be sold at all. Someone at the store where you bought it screwed up. If you bought it second hand, i.e. from an individual, there is a good chance it was stolen from Apple or another retailer.

Perhaps you can get your money back

How did you get on to the demo. I would really like to know :)

You don't. Not unless you have a demo/display phone that was stolen from Apple or an authorized retailer.

This happened to me, what are my options? I out a good chunk of money and Iknow what I did was dumb. I bought the watch for my wife as a gift.

Return the watch to the seller for a refund.

I know this is old, but for those still searching (like me) I will post a response anyway - and I also know Kilted to be a regular on here.

First of all - I love how everyone always assumes the worst... never actually fact checking or thinking of other ways someone may have gotten a Demo Watch. For instance - I know of a man, we’ll call him KaiserRoll - Kaiser owns an authorized retail store for one of the major carriers and they were required to pay $197 for a Demo which they were never actually able to display or demo for reasons that don’t really matter right now... What does matter is that he purchased this device and is now legitimately searching for a way to remove the demo mode from the device. Mr Roll Owns it, Mr Roll legitimately purchased it from a legitimate source as required by his dealer agreement... at $197 KaiserRoll didn’t get any SUPERB DEAL ON IT, that’s for sure. So, while researching ways to fix this we came across this content - which as I find all to often to be the case with this community is misguided, incorrect, misleading, BIASED, or accusatory in nature rather than being helpful.

Good advice is advice without opinion, advice based on Facts not bias, and advice which is either vetted thoroughly or which you personally know to be true. Instead you say “take it back, ITS STOLEN!” - Its a very distinct possibility that the person that sold it MIGHT have been one of the 1000s of authorized resellers in the US who purchased these Demo units (as instructed) and now want to recoup some of that money... Thats what KaiserRoll will most likely do if he cannot figure out how to get the demo off of it.

One option, which we are going to recommend he try and which no one bothered to consider so far - is to try Apple and proof of Purchase. Similar to an iCloud Locked situation... If you can prove actual purchase of the device from an Authorized Reseller or direct from a carrier or Apple (or if the person it was purchased from can) then Apple may be able to help reformat or reset the device and install the correct OS on it for you. We are going to ask Kaiser to try this and will let you know how he makes out with it.. He has the original order, receipt, and paperwork where they ordered the demo unit and will attempt to get it removed with it.

In addition, for approx $50 there was a seller on eBay claiming to be able to remove the demo and reset the Watch - which BTW requires a cable that costs anywhere from $150 - $300, a computer, and access to the software. The guy has good feedback and seems to be pretty legitimate... he may have to give that a try, but for now I cannot speak to whether or not this option yields any success.

How many of the other people in this thread do you think are authorized dealers and acquired this iPhone in this manner?

The obvious step would be to contact the people who supplied the demo model to KaiserRoll and get their money back or take legal action with the supplier, carrier or whomever it is. This is not an Apple problem and I doubt Apple will enter into the middle of a contractual disputer between an retailer and their distributor and nor should they. So the advice you should give to KaiserRoll is to work this out with the people who sold him the demo model in the first place.

Your logic is faulty. Your hypothetical "Mr Roll" does not have the legal right to re-sell it or use it for anything other than demonstration purposes under the terms under which he acquired it.
