Is the two factor authentication lame or what? ...

I don't need an access code unless I forgot my password.
If I do not set-up the the two factor authentication, I can't generate an app-specific password hence I can't check my e-mails on my Pixel phone. I am finding a lot of reason to stop using Apple products/services.
