After High Sierra no 32bit app will function?

Apple announced at its annual WWDC 2017 conference that, beginning in January 2018, 32-bit apps and updates for macOS will no longer be accepted.

Does anyone know if its intended that Apple will provide some backward compatible support for legacy 32bit apps (like Microsoft did with ability to run a legacy app in W95 etc emulation) or will all 32 bit apps simply stop functioning under the new OS?

If there is no support for legacy 32 bit apps then I presume the only option is to have entire machines set aside to run such legacy apps.

Using a VM appears unreliable - for example VMFusion has no means of emulating Accelerated 3D graphics...VMware Tools which is necessary for providing the graphics drivers for the virtual machines provides only basic SVGA drivers for Mac OS virtual machine

Does anyone have any information or suggestions to addressing this looming predicament? (other than don't use the app or upgrade the app if a 64 bit upgrade is available)

All we know is what you already know from Apple's announcement. No-one on here would know anything about the likelihood of an emulater along the lines of Rosetta, and in any case we are not allowed to speculate about forthcoming Apple products in these forums. I'm afraid it's a question of waiting until Apple tell us.
