Which MacBook Is Better?

Hi, I’m looking to get a MacBook for “average” video editing that will last me a LONG time and narrowed it down to two MacBooks. Touchbar aside, which MacBook do you think would last longer/be the most powerful?

2017 MacBook i5 processor with 16GB ram

Vs.

2016 MacBook Pro (base touchbar model) i5 processor with 8GB ram

I love the size/build of the MacBook but also think the touchbar could be useful and yet these (refurbished) items aren‘t that much apart in price...so:

Any opinions/comments/recommendations are very much apprectiated. Thanks in advance!

I personally do have the MacBook Pro 2006 model no touch bar. As I was doing some research of what to buy, having 16GB of ram on a 1.3GHz i5 processor, there tends to be some bottle-necking. It kind of makes sense; despite that it all depends on what you need.

Example: if you need something for programming go with the MacBook Pro and this is because the compiler is fast with the faster processor.

I personally don't see why I would recommend the MacBook for anyone accept if they want something very light that they can carry use while walking, because honestly the MacBook Pro is way more powerful than the MacBook.

Thats my opinion tho I'd say tell me what you need it for and I can advice you even further.

EDIT: AFTER READING YOUR POST AGAIN I READ THAT YOU NEED IT FOR VIDEO EDITING.  RAM IS NOT USED A LOT IN VIDEO EDITING THUS MEANING THAT YOU MIGHT NEED THE MacBook Pro.  Video editing requires a lot of CPU power to process, I'd also recommend getting Final Cut Pro due to optimisations with Mac Book Pro
