iCloud locked

10 days ago one of my iCloud accounts and its email became locked. I have no idea why. This is an email I have used for nearly 10 years. I cannot unlock it because the rescue email IS the same email, and I keep being told my answers to the security questions are incorrect. I have talked with multiple senior advisors. We have tried multiple permutations on the answers. They have consulted engineering - no results. I am convinced the answers in the system are completely incorrect - for reasons unclear to me. I am being told nothing can be done. Even verifying my identity and what might be in the account is insufficient. I appreciate Apple's commitment to privacy but I am hoping someone out there has encountered the same problem. This all started when i bought a new MBP - probably my 30th Apple device. I am clueless. Help please.
