Message app acting up

Since installing 11.0.1 I have seen some quirky stuff with the message app.  The “write message” icon disappeared after deleting a message I would not return until I closed the app and removed it from the app Q.  The when I keyed the usual search name into the “To” box it came up with tons of spurious entries instead of going to the usual one, which was WAY down the list.  Behavior just arrived after installing latest update 11.0.1.
