Virus: problem identifying with anti

I am running Sierra 10.12.6 on my MacBook Pro.  I've had problems since installing it. Also, just before that, I updated my Chrome browser.   The two problems may be unrelated.  Problem one: upon starting up, I have to log on twice to get to the main screen. A message on the sign-in screen says the keyboard is locked. Press a button to unlock. I was doing this but I still had to sign in twice. Not pressing re-start or sleep is no different than just signing in twice.

Second problem: Gradually I lost the ability to get onto the internet which is working. I am on my iPad now. At first I would have to close down my browser and then go back on for it to work. Now, I can't get on at all.  I have Google as my start page and I just get the spinning ball and the check your internet connection message. But it is working and I've tried rebooting. I have run Norton Anti-virus and it couldn't "fix the problem" when I ran a full scan.  I even tried doing it a few times and got the same result.  Also tried scanning with an adware/malware remover and nothing was found nothing.  I changed my browser to Safari and still couldn't get on. Other strange things have happened, i.e. my browser changing suddenly to Yahoo, which I have never used on this laptop, although  my husband has gone into his yahoo email occasionally.

Before I go to Apple to see if they can fix these issues, can anyone help?  I appreciate any help I can get,
