How to hide Library so that Go+Option key will ...
I'm using a mid-2011 Mac Mini running Sierra 10.12.6. At some point, I managed to make the Library folder permanently unhide itself inside my home directory, which made the Go+Option shortcut stop working. I'd like this functionality back, both because I don't want other people who use my identity poking around my settings, and because the Option key thing is a handy shortcut.
I've seen other threads about hiding/unhiding items in Finder, but none have addressed my specific problem. I have tried entering defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean false ; killall Finder into the command line, and holding down Command-Shift-. to unhide everything and then again to hide.
Any ideas?
Select the Home folder in the sidebar of a Finder window.
Pull down the “View” menu and select “Show View Options”
Uncheck the box for “Show Library Folder”
