fusion drive only SSD showing, no HDD
This one has me absolutely stumped. I have a late 2012 iMac 27" 1TB Fusion drive, I started up to find a grey screen with a circle and line through it. Starting back up in recovery mode I was able to get into disk utilities to find only a 120gb SSD.
I have now been able to reinstall Mavericks onto the SSD, still no sign of the larger hard drive.
Question is, do I have to configure the computer to recognize the other hard drive? Or is it simply the HDD has crashed?

If the system is only showing the SSD then the rotating hard drive has failed. In the image you posted, a Terminal window output, is after you reinstalled OS X and I take it the section below what you posted is your User Name and there are no other disks listed. If that is correct then the spinning HDD has failed and will need to be replaced. If you are still within the warranty period then it will be done for free. If your iMac doesn't have any warranty left on it expect a fairly large bill to have it replaced.

Thanks mate, yes no other disks were listed, only my user name below, I was apprehensive and hoping it wasnt't a failed disk. Thats a shame, thats a flight to Aus to find an apple store and most probably a large bill. Fourtunately I had a TimeMachine backup!

This is way to late for your case, but for others finding this topic. The HDD on an iMac is considered to be "non-user serviceable". The HDD is not hard to replace on this model, so head over to iFixit.com (I am not paid or endorsed by them, just believe in doing your own simple repairs) and you can find all you need to replace the drive!

First, reviving a thread dormant for 2 years is pretty much a waste of time; however, your statement that the HD is not hard to replace or a "simple repair", is, at best, questionable advice. iFixit calls it "difficult":

I do have a question for you though: do you inform your customers that once you do a repair for them, they will not be able to either get their device repaired by Apple or, for that matter, that you voided their warranty?
This fusion drive is on recall.
So take it to an Apple store, and claim it.
Even tough the recall ended in 12/2015,
they will exchange, since it was a hidden
defective.
