iPod touch (iOS 6.0.1) will not sync with iTune...

Recently updated by iTunes, when I first synced it all my music was removed from my iPod touch but only only realised later. Now trying to put it back on, I select 'sync only ticked songs and videos' and the audio is added in the bar down the bottom showing storage. I then click 'apply', and the 'starting sync' message appears, but disappears again after a few seconds. The audio section then disappears from the bar showing storage down the bottom.

Not sure if this is related but iTunes seems to take awhile to recognise my iPod is plugged in also.

Fixed it after some more fiddling - restored iPod from the frist sync a few days back, and then tried again.
