macOS could not be installed on your computer

I attempted to erase my hard drive and start clean because it's been running slow. I followed an online tutorial hitting the command + R button to enter disk utility. I selected my HD clicked erase and then backed out to the previous screen to reinstall the OS. Unfortunately now the OS is not reinstalling. I keep getting an error that says "macOS could not be installed on your computer, Storage system verify or repair failed. Quit the installation to restart your computer and try again." Unfortunately, I get the same result every time. Also, now when I go back in utilities and try to repeat the process it won't let me erase the HD and now there are two Disk images and it won't let me erase those either. I honestly am lost at this point. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
