Songs skipping in Music app

So, iPhone7 on iOS11.1 (and iOS11 before). Playlist of songs will play normally in iTunes on the Mac but when synced to my phone will jump to the next track around 20seconds before the end of the previous.

On the phone as the next song is playing it still shows the previous song and you can pause and restart and it plays to the end.

Immensely frustrating. I've tried deleting the songs from the library and making the play list from scratch. Occasionally this works, but not always. Same issue on other iPhone6 and my sons iPhone5 (syncing from the same library on my Mac).
