Ringtones and iTunes in iOS11

Does this drag and drop method apply to the forthcoming iOS 11? I was linked to the page

HT207955: Use tones on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

to address change in what app will sync ringtones.  When I install next iTunes will it delete previously saved/synced ringtones?
