Scaled 1280x720 resolution on DellU2515H as ext...

I've bought a few weeks ago and I'm using daily my MacBookPro 2017 15" - 2.9Ghz for work.

Previously I was using my old MacMini2014.

Both the Mac are / were attached to my DellU2515H monitor (25", max resolution 2560x1440px).

Now I have a problem: with my old MacMini2014 I could set an HDPI resolution of 1280x720px: the real resolution was 2560x1440px (the max for the monitor), scaled to 1/2.

I would set the same with my new MacBookPro 2017 15", but I can't: enabling Hdpi modes like for MacMini doesn't work (How to Enable HiDPI Mode in Mac OS X - TekRevue). So I've read some posts on the Web, this in particular ("

1280×720 HiDPI mode does not work using SwitchResX, RDM or similar utility with an external monitor on a Retina MacBook Pro") and I managed to use 1279×720px resolution.

Problem is that this 1279×720px doesn't show perfectly crisp like the "MacMini 1280x720px"; working for several days, I've increasingly noticed the (very) slight blur of texts and shapes, and this is a problem for my eyes.

Specs for MacBookPro 2017 15" are:

2880-by-1800 native resolution at 220 pixels per inch with support for millions of colors

Supported scaled resolutions:

1920 by 1200

1680 by 1050

1280 by 800

1024 by 640

So, what is the problem? How these resolutions - that are clearly related to the 15" MacBookPro monitor, affect the external display?

Why, starting from a max resolution of  2560x1440px, I can't get the 1280x720px Hdpi resolution on the external monitor? Why it doesn't me natively show at least the 1280x800px scaled resolution on the external monitor? What monitor - possibly - I have to buy to get a "low" Hdpi resolution like this? (Resolution like 2560 or so make the text too much small...).
