Macbook SSD Very very Slow on Mac, Perfect on W...

Hi I am user of 13" Macbook Pro 2012 md101

for a long time ( more than a year ) I am using it with 240gb Kingston SSDnow as 170 GB mac and 60 GB Windows Partition.

Everything was perfect until this morning. When I open my mac I see my mac os is extremly slow. very slow. in every click I wait about 5-10 seconds. and the ball is looding for a long time.

first of all Of Course I thought My SSD got damage. But it is not!

I had hold down power button and restart mac mac over Windows partition. Windows works without any problem like before. And what is interesting I am able to access all of my data on Macintosh HD with super speed.

Then I ve unplugged my SSD and put it into my brother's Macbook pro to test it. My Mac os X el Captain works perfect on that macbook pro.

Then I also Put my ssd to USB drive and plugged to my Macbook. And it has booted. It also works perfect via USB 3.0 interface.

So every clue shows my Sata Cable has problem. This is the most rational posibility. There are also many people who got this problem and fixed it by changing sata cable like here Internal Macbook Pro HD Extremely Slow but External USB HD Works Great

But, I want to underline, If my cable is sick, Why My Windows partition works perfect? does mac os x use some extra pinouts on that drive cable?

and are you sure do I have to pay 50 $ and replace my sata cable?

thanks

Hi, same problem here. my MBP 9,2 13" Mid 2012 el cap 10.11.4 entered this on 9th to 10th of may 2016.

But: I had some problems before, when upgrading the machine in october 2015, I entered massive problems disk can't be initialized / checked and repaired without errors. The CRC error count on SSD raised ... Leaving the Apple genius bar (1year, 1 month after I bought the machine not directly by apple because I saved several bucks in an offer) with a bill of 56€ for a new SATA cable.

After this, the SSD (in my case, a 500gb Crucial MX200) runs perfectly fine ... until last weak.

As entered above: the exact same problem an personal diaognostic: I just slap down the lid taking it to sleep and the next morning the wheel of doom and I got BFF ;/

Because the cable was changed once, I can't believe that it is faulty again.

Since: I have no solution at the meantime; I can just confirm, the SSD is still fine (works on a windows PC (another System) with full speed, and still the plain old 5400rpm apple manufact-hdd works fine with it's 3Gbit SATA level on it's best as it is able to. The SSD works also fine on an external USB3 station, where I was able to boot from taking a last timeMachine backup.

The problem is indeed persistent for me, never mind I

* reset the PRAM

* reset the SMC

* use Mavericks Internet Recovery

* use ElCapitan Recovery

* full system diagnostics is well for both, SSD + new RAM and stock HW

Fresh mavericks install is prognosed to run about 20 hours, counting up...

the disk is just slow as ****, even the disk manager needs 1 minute to show up the disk, a format will take more than 5min... but hey: without errors ;D

I bet, there was no Update installed this day it happened, neither on any software nor from Apple. The Machine never got overheaten, nor anything else harmful.

It's just getting rediculous reading this and other posts ... I bet there is a series error on these MBP, 6Gbit SATA III seems to be to haul up the problem faster.. slow disks might work or you "just" expect data loss ... ;/

With bothered regards from your companion in misfortune,

~Marcel

Hi, I have same issue.

Have you tried to change the sata cable?

Thank you
