Warning: Be wary of installing Trusteer Rapport...
Just a word of warning to users who have upgraded to macOS Sierra – I would be wary about installing and using IBM's Trusteer Rapport software as it does not appear to work correctly with Safari 10. Although this may not be the case for all devices running Safari 10, it certainly has caused problems on both my Mac and someone else's on this thread:
High CPU usage (and therefore high battery drain) is the main problem I have experienced with this. If you already have Rapport installed, perhaps try using Safari and check its CPU usage in Activity Monitor to see if this problem is widespread or only limited to certain devices (mine included).
Rapport has constantly experienced problems on my Mac – in OS X El Capitan the icon wouldn't appear in Safari 9.1.3; in the public beta of macOS Sierra the installer kept crashing and causing my Mac to unexpectedly restart; and now high CPU usage when using Safari 10.
Anyone else encountered problems with Rapport? For now I don't particularly want to reinstall the software, despite its security perks – the constant headaches the software entails have deterred me from using it for the moment.
I concur that installing Trusteer Rapport on a Mac is asking for problems.
I had the exact same issue, Safari was unusable.
Thanks to you I've removed Rapport (it was a legacy from an old HSBC business banking account I had) and no more Safari issues!
Thankyou!
I had the same problem.
Uninstalling Rapport seems to solve it.
Safari 10 is not a supported browser yet. Supported browsers and operating systems are indicated here: https://trusteer.force.com/PKB/articles/FAQ/supported-platforms?l=en_US&lang=en_U S . Trusteer when installed in macOS Sierra runs in the background however you can't install its extension to Safari 10. But Safari 10 runs without problems when Trusteer is running in the background.
Search these help communities to view the issues users have experienced with Trusteer.

That has not been my experience with Trusteer when I have been asked to help user with problems on their Macs. My first suggestion is the uninstall of Trusteer which tends to clear up their problems.
I see Truster as a scam on the Mac since it claims to protect their Mac but in fact only causes problems.
Truster should be avoided.
Avoid that IBM $#!+ware on all mac computers, regardless of the OS.
And I wouldn't run it on my PC if they paid me.
Depending on the Mac configuration you may have a point. However I've used Trusteer on supported platforms for years and never had a problem. Most major banks in the US (i.e. Bank of America etc.) and in the world recommend Trusteer for online banking security.
They can recommend as much as they want but I am still not going to install that crap on my Mac.
I got the same problem. 500%CPU usage !!!!! for safari, a little bit less using Firefox. No green-grey icons.
I chatted with IBM Trusteer support team which confirm me they are working on a fix..... as always.
Firefox (v 49.0.1)works for "iconization" ... sometimes .... but not systematically.
If no fix delivered within a week I'll get rid of that Cxxx.
Prior that, waiting for the fix-update if any, I just use right now "Safari Technology Preview" which works gr8ly.
Hi Gents
Last Update from Friday the 30th, the IBM Support Team sent me a mail with a link to the last Rapport.dmg fix .... it even worst than before (Firefox is now joining Safari : definitively unusable). CPU is still at at least 200% usage for each app.
I installed Rapport in a clean install of Sierra, and kept getting the black screen of death. I rebooted in safe mode and uninstalled it and the problem went away.
Exactly the same experience I have had with that piece of scam ware.
My suggestion is to never install it on a Mac unless you want problems with your Mac.
I have also encountered this. Installed Rapport yesterday after several years of avoiding it. Immediately my MacBook Pro (OS Sierra, 8Gb) crashed. When I restarted numerous programs were not responding and I received a message the system had run out of resources. Ran Activity Monitor and found very high CPU usage. I have now uninstalled Rapport, but appear to have lost several files on my external drive due to the crash. very annoying.
