Is it normal to hear the iMac still working whe...

Hi all,

So I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Sierra on my late 2013 iMac which is running the latest version of Sierra. I did a clean install and only copied my documents over and haven't really been experiencing any problems, except 2.

Firstly, when I put the iMac to sleep I have a strong suspicion it's not actually sleeping. I can hear some spinning noises when I put my ear to it and it is very quick to wake up, with Wifi already connected and the clock already at the correct time, in contrast to what happened in Mavericks. Also, despite the fact that I changed the settings so that Bluetooth devices don't wake it up, my mouse still manages to "wake" it.

Secondly, when "asleep" the display magically turns on sometimes. Usually happens after a few hours "asleep". Apart from a wired keyboard there is nothing connected.

This is what I have done:

1) My Energy Saver settings do not permit waking by network or Power Nap

2) Came across this Apple help page and reset the SMC and NVRAM.

3) Gone to terminal and typed "pmset -g assertions" but it says zero for prevent system sleep.

If my iMac is truly not sleeping this will surely fry it over the years, and I may even go back to Mavericks over this..

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
