Digital movie copies on iTunes?

So i know that any 1080p movie i owned on iTunes with a 4k option was upgraded, and i know that 4k movies cost the same as their 1080p counterparts on iTunes. 

However i still prefer to buy physical copies of movies if I can, so my question is this:

If i buy a 4k movie at bestbuy that comes with an digital Hd code redeemable on iTunes, will i get the 4k copy or the 1080p copy? 

I am thinking about buying the 4k apple tv, so this is very important, will make or break my decision. 

it would be up to the reseller. you are not buying the movie from iTunes, you are playing it over iTunes. I bought movies from Disney in HD, they play in HD but they are not eligible for the 4K versions. I didn't buy them from Apple, and Apple is under no obligation to upgrade media I didn't purchase through them.
