changed password

I am new to this IPAD experience--my son got me for Xmas .

For some reason I had to change my password .

I get the confirming EM--I am able to log in with my PC--but the IPAD refuses to accept the new password and now locks down and says ( try agin in on hour ) .

I am not to pleased with this $500 paperweight .

Anyone else have this problem ?

The iPad needs the passcode to the device itself in order to unlock it. Did you set a passcode on the iPad?

 

This is not your email password - it is the one to unlock the iPad.

I'm not quite sure what you mean .

I turn the device on--the keyboard shows up--asking for password--I type it in and get locked out .

I am positive I am typing it correctly .

You are sure that you are entering the correct passcode too unlock the iPad?



Yes---double checked



Try a Reset:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost. After it boots back up and you get to the "Enter Passcode" screen, try the correct passcode.

Justried that--says Ipad disabled connect to Itunes .

Does this mean like when I originally got the device--hook to my usb port on my PC ?



You need to restore the iPad now.

 

The last website in the list will probably be the one that is applicable in this case - using recovery mode - if you need to restore the iPad.

 

You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.

If you cannot restore that way, you may have to use recovery mode

I've been using comp ,s for years--this Apple thing is all new for me .

Well I've restored and am able to log on again but apps need to be updated and I get "your Apple ID has been disabled "----------Arggggggggh

 

I'm gonna give it a break for a while  and get the Easter dinner going  .

Taking a break is a good idea. You need to relax and then recharge. Take a look after dinner.



I know this isan old thread, but this just happened to me and I wanted to post for anyone else searching as I did. I had changd the passcode about a month back,but typed in the old code just now by accident. The iPad locked and said "This iPad is disabled. Try again in one hour" and displayed a countdown timer. I reset the power, but the countdown remained. After the hour expired, I re-entered the passcode and it was fine. According to other threads on this, the power cycle was probably a critical step in not repeating the lockout. I do not believe a Restore is called for in this case. FYI, it locked on the first bad entry, and was stationary on my nightstand for hours before that.



I forgot to mention, while it was in lockout, the cellular indicator turned, even though I had never paid to activate it. Once the lockout time expired, I had to go into settings and manually disable cellular data again. Weird.
