Moving to a new Mac
I have an early 2009 iMac that could not be updated beyond El Capitan. I’m getting a new 2017 iMac running High Sierra. Will I be able to use my time machine back up from El Capitan to move everything to the new Mac?
Yes. Using TM is one of the options you have for moving to a new Mac.
