Wired keyboard with num

Hello,

I have the Apple aluminium keyboard with numpad (wired). It loses connection at random intervals.

I originally used a usb hub and extension and never had a problem for the months in which i have had it that way.

Suddenly on one day it lost connection so I tried various other connections like the 1 m extension included as well as a usb hub. I now have it plugged directly into my Mac Mini which was the most stable option. I have concluded that it was not any of the hubs or extensions i was using as they all work with other components. Now that my keyboard is plugged in directly I experience fewer problems however intermittently just disconnects. Another time it disconnects is when i plug something of a high power usage into the inbuilt usb slots eg. USB memory stick or mobile phone. It cant be the connection as I haven't moved it yet it still loses connection.

Thanks any help appreciated.

If problem is not software based will probably take into apple store (30 mins away). Thought i would ask the community first.
