MY macbook pro 2015 no longer wakes when I open...

Trial and error results in waking by holding on/off together with space bar or shift key. Unusually I get Apple Logo and progress bar before the 'enter password' request. Then I get message that  I had shut down due to an error-not true. No longer opens using my Apple Watch.

Once I manage to wake up things seem normal until I finish by Sleep or Shut Down the process repeats itself.
