Why can’t I pair my series 3 Apple Watch ...

I don’t understand it because everything works up to the point where the watch would finish pairing. The watch recognizes the car, and it sends a PIN number to the car. Then when I verify the PIN number, the watch just has a spinning wheel and then the car eventually says “pairing unsuccessful” and the watch says “make sure the device pin is correct and that it is in discovery mode”. I don’t get it. It really should have worked but it doesn’t. Can anyone relate and possibly help me with this? Thanks.
