Cannot add ANY card to Apple Pay

Hi all,

I've recently had my iPhone 6S in to have the battery replaced. As part of that I had to remove my passcode so my Wallet was wiped.

Since then I've been unable to add any of my credit/debit cards back to Wallet. I've tried all the usual stuff of closing apps / rebooting phone / turning off and on again with no luck - all I get is the "could not add card" error. I've also tried both scanning the card and entering details manually. I had cards in there before they were removed so I know the card issuers and my region (UK) work.

Any ideas your collective genius can think of?

Thanks, Lee.

Hi

It may help to follow these steps:

  • Go to: Settings > iCloud - at the bottom of the screen, Sign out.
  • Go to: Settings > Touch ID & Passcode - Turn Passcode off.
  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Sign back in to iCloud, turn Passcode back on and try again to add your card.

When adding the cards, follow the steps here:

Set up Apple Pay on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac - Apple Support

FYI I'm able to add a card to my Apple Watch through the Watch app on my phone successfully, but still can't add a card on the Wallet app on my phone...

That worked perfectly, thank you.

You're welcome!

Thanks. This worked.

This worked-- THANK YOU!  This had been driving me crazy!

Awesome - many thanks, I fell foul of this issue after having the Apple store fix my broken iPhone screen where they have you disable the passcode before turning over the phone to them (automatically deleted wallet associated cards)! A pity the Apple Store genius folks don't seem to know this! They just shrugged and suggested I contact the credit card company. They should make sure their staff ask customers to REMOVE any active Apple Pay credit cards linked to the wallet BEFORE having you turn off the passcode.

did not work for me. made it 2 times.
