Are there meant to be black marks on my MacBook...

IMG_9799.JPG

IMG_9800.JPGSo I have only had my MacBook Air for about 4 weeks and charged it up no more than 5 times, yet I have black marks on the charging prongs? I have tried wiping them off, thinking they were dirt marks, but some of the metal is missing. Is this normal? Also, I never leave the charger plugged in whilst not in use, I always take it out

Hi,

No, it's not normal. The blackened, pitted prongs suggest arcing or shorting. It could be something as simple as replacing the receptacle, or more serious like the wiring.

You might want to call an electrician.
