Crack on the screen with no help in India

Being an athlete, an open water swimmer and a national lap swimmer I needed a smart watch that would help me track my progress during training sessions. I bought an i watch series 3 from an apple store in north bangalore. It was exactly 8 days after I purchased and before amazon prime could deliver me the I watch screen guard and a bumper case that I slipped while climbing stairs and my watch hit the wall since I instinctively saved my fall with my wrist. The screen of my watch now has a crack what looks like a scratch. While I rushed to the nearest apple care center this is what I understand -

  1. I need to pay >18000 ₹ for a replacement of the I watch I purchased 8 days ago by paying 29000₹.
  2. I do not have an option of getting my watch insured.
  3. Unlike privileged users in US or other countries I don’t have an apple care + option wherein I get a 90 day complimentary service for an accidental damage.
  4. And finally I get a response from the customer service guy at the center who ridicules my complaint that the best thing I can do instead of complaining that it’s just 8 days old to pay 18000 so soon for replacement and instead of feeling the double standards on lacking care plus privileges I can keep it unused for more than 90 days and then pay the amount so I have “customer satisfaction”.

Here is my question-

  1. Why do I experience double standards here when my counterparts in US and other places would have enjoyed a free service had they been in my situation. How different am I as an apple user?
  2. What happened to the quality of customer care? Why doesn’t the world s brand no. 1 in quality, agility and diligence have a vigil on how qualified the customer help is? What in the name of Apple is really happening with the customer support here?


And no I can’t afford a heavy replacement payment within 8 days of purchase and pay nearly 90 percent of the original amount to a brand new device I bought. Please help me out here.
