External microphone not working on OS Sierra, a...

I'm trying to use my external mic with a Babbel course but the external microphone not working. Its not working with  Siri either, any ideas folks.

The external mic is built in to my mac

It's an internal mic.  External mics are connect to comps by a cable.

Have you checked to make sure the mic is not on mute in System Preferences?  If so, click on the following KB Article links & do the necessary:

Usb audio require drivers from the manufacturer if they don't support the os you are out of luck go to their site and see if they support the os some users think apple make these drivers included in OS X but they don't

The external mic is built in to my mac, it only gave problems after OS Sierra was installed.

I don't exactly have a solution. You can try going to the Apple Icon at the top left hand corner and click the second option "System Preferences" Then go to "Sound" and click the "Input" button and make sure the correct microphone is selected!

I don't think people are getting this. I too am trying an external microphone for my mac IE - One that plugs into my mac not the built in one
