Hi. Im experiencing som trouble connecting up. I have a new MacBook air and an adapter ( Thunderbolt 3- Thunderbolt 2) . I only get a "signa"l when I press command-2 and theres a little icon of a computer on my safari icon on the mac.?

When I make a search in safari on my MacBook pro it comes up on the iMac, but I never see my desktop the way Used to with the MacBook air. Then I could just close the MacBook air and use the iMac as a screen for it which was brilliant. Struggling.. Could it be that i haven't upgraded to Sierra on the iMAC?
