I have a Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapte...

In my network settings, there is an item on the list that says Thunderbolt Bridge, but there is not Thunderbolt Ethernet. When I try to add the Thunderbolt Ethernet manually, it won't add when I create it.

Have you tried connecting it directly to the modem to eliminate the router as a potential issue?

No, I work at a large company with hundreds of network ports that all hook up to a larger fiber ran network service. My network cables are all live and good. It seems to be something to do with the device not being read correctly by the laptop itself.

In your position, I would exchange the adapter for a different one (or try it on another Mac if possible), and if it still didn't work, reinstall the OS. ymmv
