Mini displayport to thunderbolt

Hej. I connected my mac mini (2016) to my imac (2008) with thunderbolt to vga, vga to mini displayport to use imac as monitor. But nothing happening. What am I doing wring?

Trying with cmd+f2. Nothing

The 2008 iMac cannot be used as a display.
