MACBOOK PRO TRACKPAD NOT CLICKING

I have a MId 2015 Macbook Pro 15 inch, about a week ago the trackpad would not click at all, i used my external trackpad to get into it and do what i had to do, then about 45 minutes later it started working fine again. Throughout the last week its been working off and on, it will click but i cant press down harder to double click it, give it about 15 minutes(sometimes 5, sometimes 30) and it starts to work fine again. I read about the battery swelling issue so i took it to an Apple store and he pulled the back off and said it showed no signs of that, he said it more then likely was the trackpad going bad. He mentioned a place that could replace the whole top plate but i forgot the name. BUT last night i got on it and was using Lightroom(which i know is hard on the battery), when i started i had 78% and 20 minutes later i had 51% and when i clicked on the battery symbol it said i had 52 minutes remaining. I confused on what to do here. My mind says the battery is going bad and causing the issues. I would like to keep this one, i have another new one but this one i would like to hang on to. Anybody have any ideas or come across something like this?
